Expedition on ile d'Oléron

A beautiful day in May and we went towards l'île d'Oléron less than 1:30 of camping. The advantage of going to discover the island in the low season ... There are many less people! We decide to stop in one of the first cities of the island: Le Château d'Oléron.
A very beautiful right, fishing huts full of colors, which makes this small town beautiful! Climbing on the heights we can see a beautiful citadel and a small route all around that makes us discover the history of the city. There are many restaurants around the harbor and colorful cabins for all tastes and budgets.

We decide to go a little further to discover other places, we meet the typical villages of the island with whitewashed houses, colorful shutters, small flowered streets and a beautiful heritage at the four corners. from the island.
The landscapes are not alike, between vineyards, swamp and forest, everyone will find his little pleasure. We did not go to see them but there are also limestone cliffs at Chassiron which would be worth the detour, it will surely be our next discovery by returning to the island.

A thing is sure, if you have the chance to go around the island bike do not hesitate! Small bike paths are planned all along the coast and offer a breathtaking landscape. In addition the bike is much more convenient to walk in the small alleys of the villages.
