Let's go to Brouage
A small fortified town in the heart of the Charente-Maritime marshes between Rochefort and the Île d'Oléron, less than an hour from the 3-star Val de Boutonne campsite.
On the road to Brouage, you can stroll through the marshes and, at certain times of the year, you may even see storks, herons and many other species of birds that have come to nest here.
Brouage is a very pleasant and little-known corner of Charente-Maritime, perfect for a lovely afternoon of discovery! When you arrive in the town, you can walk around the ramparts and enjoy a magnificent view overlooking the marshes and surrounding villages. Throughout your visit, you will find historic buildings such as the citadel, which now hosts exhibitions.
Several artists' shops where you can find souvenirs for young and old alike, such as jewellery, decorations, toys and even handmade sweets, are hidden throughout the town.
